- Yahweh says, Return to me, turn from your evil ways, & I will return to you. Where are your fathers & prophets? Gone, but my law remains. Zechariah sees a man on a red horse among myrtle trees. An angel says that the heathens helped afflict Zion but Zion will be prosperous. #Zch1
- Zechariah has a vision of 4 horns that scattered Judah, & 4 carpenters that are to cast out the Gentiles. A 3rd vision is of a man measuring Jerusalem. It is to be unwalled, as the Lord will be a wall of fire. Exiles are exhorted to return. Many nations will join Yahweh. #Zch2
- Judah’s high priest Joshua stands in filthy clothes before an angel. Clean garments & a turban are placed on him. The angel says, If you are obedient to the Lord, you will govern my house & I will bring my servant to you. Then neighbors will sit under your vine & fig tree. #Zch3
- Zechariah has a vision of a gold candlestick with seven lamps besides two olive trees. An angel explains that this is the word of the Lord unto Zerubabel. He will build the house of the Lord, and two anointed ones shall stand by the Lord of the whole earth. #Zch4
- I saw a flying scroll with curses written against thieves & those who swear falsely by the Lord’s name. The scroll will enter the house of those who do these things & consume them. Then I saw 2 women with wings in a basket flying to Babylon to build a house for the basket. #Zch5
- Then I saw 4 horses carrying the spirit of the Lord to the north, south, east & west, walking to & fro through the earth. I was told to take offerings of captives from Babylon to make crowns for the high priest & 3 returnees. The branch shall build the temple of the Lord. #Zch6
- The word of the Lord came to Zechariah saying, Do you fast & mourn for me? And when you feast, is it for yourselves? Show mercy & compassion; oppress not the widow, orphan, stranger, nor the poor. But they would not hear; so they cried, & I would not hear & scattered them. #Zch7
- The Lord says, I will return to Zion, where the elderly shall dwell & children play. I will bring my people to Jerusalem: they shall be my people & I shall be their God. The seed shall prosper & the vine bear fruit. Speak truth, execute judgment, & rid your hearts of evil. #Zch8
- The burden of the Lord against Lebanon, Gaza & various cities is pronounced. Rejoice, Zion, for your king comes, riding an ass. He shall proclaim peace to the nations. His dominion shall be even unto the ends of the earth. Zion’s captives shall return, defended by the Lord. #Zch9
- The diviners lie; the flock is scattered because there was no shepherd. From Yahweh will come tools to trample their enemies. I will strengthen the house of Judah & save the house of Joseph. I will sow them among the people & gather them to Gilead & Lebanon, says the Lord. #Zch10
- The cedars have fallen; the shepherds wail. I will feed the flock of slaughter. I took 2 staves, cutting one to break my covenant. They gave me 30 pieces of silver that I cast into the Lord’s house. I broke the other, & will raise a shepherd that shall not leave his flock. #Zch11
- I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling, a burdensome stone. I will make the governors like a torch of fire. The house of David will look on me whom they have pierced. They shall mourn in bitterness for him as an only son. All the clans of the house of David shall mourn. #Zch12
- In that day, idols will be forgotten; prophets will be killed. They will be ashamed of their vision & say, I am a farmer; these wounds are from my friends. Smite the shepherd & the sheep will be scattered. The third left will be refined by silver & say The Lord is our God. #Zch13
- An oracle on the destruction of Jerusalem is given, with Mt. Olives split in 2. In that day, the Lord shall be king over the whole earth. Yahweh will send a plague onto all nations who fought Jerusalem. Their wealth will be piled together, & survivors will worship Yahweh. #Zch14
