- The word of the Lord came to Micah concerning Samaria & Jerusalem. The Lord will come down to make the mountains melt & the valleys cleft. For the sin of Jacob & Israel is all this. I will make Samaria a heap. The idols, paid for by prostitutes’ wages, will be destroyed. #Mch1
- Woe to them that devise iniquity! They seize fields, take houses & defraud people. I am planning disaster against them. Do not prophesy, they say, No shame will find us. Is Jacob accursed? Has Yahweh lost patience? I will gather the remnant of Israel together like sheep. #Mch2
- Rulers of Israel, is it not for you to know judgment? You eat the flesh of my people, break their bones & flay them. The prophets cry peace with full stomachs. The sun will set for prophets. Judges take bribes; priests & prophets take fees. For this Zion will be destroyed. #Mch3
- A beatific vision of the reign of Yahweh in Zion: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, for all people will walk in the name of his god, & we will walk in the name of the Lord our God. You, daughter of Zion, shall go to Babylon where the Lord shall deliver you. #Mch4
- Bethlehem, though you are small, a ruler of Israel shall come forth, going forth everlasting. If Assyria comes into our land, this man shall be peace. The remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles. One day I will execute anger & fury on the heathen, & destroy the cities. #Mch5
- Yahweh pleads with Israel that he brought them out of Egypt & led them from Shittim to Gilgal. Yet the rich are full of violence & there are treasures of wickedness in their houses. I will make you desolate due to your sins. You will sow but not reap, & bear the reproach. #Mch6
- There is no fresh fruit to be harvested in summer. Everyone lurks for blood; even one’s family are enemies. Do not gloat over me, my enemy. I must bear the indignation of the Lord because I have sinned against him. Who is a God like thee, that delights in mercy? #Mch7
