- Paul writes to the adelphi of the Church of Galatia, proclaiming that the gospel he preaches is a revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul was a faithful Jew who left a comfortable life to preach the gospel of Jesus in many places: Syria, Cilicia, Arabia, Judaea, etc. #Gal1
- With Titus and Barnabas, Paul preached the gospel to the uncircumcised Gentiles while Cephas (Peter) preached it to the circumcised Jews. Paul recalls confronting Peter about circumcision, arguing that we are justified by faith alone, not by the works of the Mosaic law. #Gal2
- Paul berates those who think that the Spirit comes thru works of the law. It comes instead by belief in Jesus. The promise to Abraham is to all nations, for there is neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. #Gal3
- An underage heir is like a slave until he receives his inheritance. Similarly, we were slaves to sin until Jesus came to redeem us & we came to know God. Hagar begat Ishmael, a slave lacking inheritance, and Sarah begat Isaac, a free man. Even the barren may rejoice. #Gal4
- Circumcision has no value compared to believing in Jesus. Those who think otherwise should go the whole way and cut it off. The entire law is to love your neighbor as yourself. Christ has set us free, not to indulge acts of the flesh but to enjoy the fruit of the spirit. #Gal5
- Carry others’ burdens, but take pride only in what you yourself have done. God will not be mocked: each person reaps what he has sown. Boast not of circumcision, but give glory only to the cross of Christ the Lord. #Gal6
