5. Short Bios of Ying and Chuck
Ying Smith is a singer/guitar player, who is sometimes a middle/high school teacher. Ying started singing in high school, performing in concert choir and jazz choir, as well as in school musicals. She continued to hone her performance skills in college by joining the color guard in the University of Wyoming marching band. Ying has performed with several bands in the area, as well as with musicians and bands in the UK and France. Ying is able to perform in a variety of musical styles: country, folk, jazz, rock/pop, blues.
Charles Dermer is a guitarist and singer/songwriter. He has completed the Crole River album, and has the instrumental Orchids in Sunlight in production. Chuck has been playing guitar since he was 15, though he put music aside to pursue an academic career as a theoretical astrophysicist, recently retiring from government to play music.
